Dental information---About Me

I was born in “da Bronx” and grew up on Long Island. I’ve always preferred to be called by my childhood nickname, “Buzz.”
After graduating from Binghamton University in 1969 and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1973, I served as a dentist in the U.S. Navy in Washington, D.C. for two years.
I consider myself a lucky person; I have three close friendships of 40 years or more, and I’m married to my best friend, Wendy.
From my parents, I received a love of knowledge.   I spend many hours in continuing education, adding new ideas and techniques to my practice. I’m proud to be a member of Crown Council, a group of over 1000 outstanding dental practices dedicated to clinical excellence, communication skills, and helping the community. Since 1998 our office has raised over $65,000 for local and national charities.
I have many mentors through the Internet Dental Forum, a source of world-wide, up-to-date information on dentistry. In 2002 I lectured to this group on muscle pain relief techniques for dentistry using the physical therapy technique, "Spray and Stretch."

Wendy and I have twin sons and one grandson.  Love of music must be a genetic trait, because our grandson first heard and spontaneously started singing "La Donne e Mobile (in fractured Italian)" when he was 4 1/2.

My hobbies include singing, woodworking, fishing, cooking, and gardening. I enjoy bad puns, hyperbole, and language in general.  My parents and the people close to me all have excellent vocabularies.  I try to keep up with them by adding a new word to my vocabulary, without fail, EVERY SINGLE YEAR.  During the year, I try assiduously to use that word on a quotidian basis.  I honestly do.  This year, I've really outdone myself by adding TWO words, intransigent and mollycoddle.

My hobbies are singing (I have a partially "trained" voice, which means that I can botch opera arias), gardening, cooking (mostly ethnic food---Chinese, Thai, Korean, Vietnamese,  Indonesian, and Middle Eastern--- and Cajun/Creole food), fishing (not necessarily "catching"), and woodworking.  I might modestly add that I excel at all of these except fishing, and that it is extremely difficult to be me.  In fact, I find it to be a full-time job.

I used to be 6' tall, but now I've shrunken down to 5' 11 1/4."  I still have hazel eyes.  I am a relatively svelt 160-165 (lbs., not kilos) and am working on developing six-pack abs (dream on, Buzz).
